The Story of the Boozy Fruitcake

The Boozy Fruit Cake is a fun cake that I haven’t made in years.

At the beginning of the summer, I decided that it was time to make this again.
With so many summer fruits available just down the street at Rossi Farms,
well, it was a “no brainer”.

I decided in June to start the fruit to use for our December dinner.

Here is how it all took place:

June 21, 2004

I sliced up some black plums, placed them in a glass container,
added sugar and yeast. Off we go!

July 1, 2004

Blueberries and more sugar were added

July 13, 2004

Juicy blackberries were added, along with that sugar

July 24, 2004

Beautiful, plump strawberries and sugar were added

August 4, 2004

Fat, juicy peaches and sugar went into the jar

August 14, 2004

Yellow plums from a neighbor of Chuck and Fay’s were added along with sugar

August 25, 2004

My Zupans Receiving Clerk gave me a container of fresh mangos.
They were sliced, diced and added with sugar

September 4, 2004

Pears were in season and in the jar, with sugar

September 16, 2004

Red Plums joined the black and yellow plums from earlier weeks….along with sugar

September 26, 2004

Red grapes…uh, those things that make wine, were added with sugar

October 11, 2004

Tart green apples were added with sugar

October 26, 2004

More blueberries went in to the mix along with sugar

November 6, 2004

Tis the season, fresh cranberries were crushed and added along with,
you guessed it, more sugar.

December 12, 2004

We all ate the cake made from this fermented fruit!
